The Property

If you could imagine a description of Heaven on earth and envision a setting so powerful that it literally takes your breath away, you may open your eyes and be gazing upon the Stillmeadow Ranch. This exquisite ranch is located in a lush, green valley in the high rocky mountains of Colorado. Surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks, the alpine views in all directions will render you speechless. Overlooking this masterful landscape is a 5,000 +/- sq. ft. custom Norwegian Log home. Massive logs make up this elegant home providing the comfort and style of an exclusive mountain retreat. While the mountains boast of many outdoor activities, there is nothing like grabbing your fly rod and strolling up to your private 4 acre fishing pond. Oh, the fish are plentiful but the challenge of fishing may lay just a few steps further along the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River. For just under one mile the Lake Fork meanders through the Stillmeadow allowing the owners the privilege of a private, year round fishery exclusive to the ranch. Yes, this is a bit of Heaven that is best described by one guest who visited the ranch. He stated, “This is one of God’s masterful presentations; it’s as if you’re looking at a true work of art.”

Location

The Stillmeadow ranch is positioned south of the gold mining community of Lake City Colorado on County Road 30 on the way up Cinnamon Pass. Lake City is located in Hinsdale County, Colorado which consists of 96% public lands and makes up the highest percentage of alpine tundra in America. This glacial valley provides miles of the best hiking and groomed snowmobile trails, and is home to Colorado’s second largest natural body of water, Lake San Cristobal. The combination of this 350 acre natural lake, five 14,000 foot peaks and spectacular alpine landscape creates some of the country’s most pristine scenery. Lake City is located in the heart of the Rockies 280 miles south of Denver, 170 miles southeast of Grand Junction, 100 miles east of Montrose and just 53 miles west of Gunnison. Montrose and Gunnison are serviced by daily commercial air service.

The water rights include, but are not limited to: 15.8 c.f.s for irrigation from multiple ditch rights 5.0 c.f.s. for fish culture 3 well permits.

Zoning/Use

The Ranch is currently zoned agricultural and provides the base for every kind of recreational activity in this part of the world: from hiking, biking and horseback riding to jeeping through the San Juan mountains and stepping back in time as you travel though the rugged history of gold and silver mines. The historic miners’ mission was driven by the love of working amongst the mighty mountains. Stillmeadow’s winter months bring great activities with over 150 miles of groomed snowmobile trails starting at your front door. Crested Butte Ski area is less than 2 hours away and the world famous Telluride Ski Resort is just a little over 3 hours away.

Vegetation/Terrain

The ranch resides at an elevation of 9,200’ in the valley floor and increases in elevation at the north and southeast corners of the ranch to an elevation of 9680 feet. About two-thirds of the ranch is either flat or very gently sloped. A steep 600 foot canyon wall makes up the northern third of the ranch. The wide variety of the terrain here gives the entire ranch an impressive and dramatic feel. The jewel of the valley is the 70 irrigated acres making up the manicured hay pasture and providing the foreground of the grand mountain setting.

Wildlife

Countless herds of deer and elk consider this property home during the winter months. It is also not uncommon to see one of the many moose that populate this area traverse the ranch. Pheasants, rabbits, coyotes and many other species of small game are readily seen as well. The Stillmeadow Ranch is also a fisherman’s paradise controlling both sides of the Lake Fork of the Gunnison for just under a mile and boasting a 4 acre fishing pond.
